HOW TO NUMB EAR LOBES FOR PIERCING
Posted by Rachel Davenport on
You will ned to purchase a 'Lidocaine" cream from the chemist. This is the same cream that is used in hospitals for children having injections/blood tests. It is usually called 'EMLA' and a 5g tube is about £5. You will also need some cling film and medical tape or large plasters.
Applying the cream:
1) Squeeze a generous blob onto forefinger and thumb and rub into the earlobes (back and front simultaneously) until it disappears.
2) Now put a large pea-sized blob on the front of the lobe and another on the back of the lobe. Do not rub in.
3) Gently cover the ear lobe with a small square of cling film - being careful not to move the blobs of cream. The cling film must completely cover the ear lobe.
4) Secure the cling film with medical tape or large plasters that will keep the cling film hugging the ear lobe.
For best results apply 1 to 2 hours prior to your appointment. The longer the cream has, the better the numbing effect :-)
